Where to Shop for Holiday Decorations This Year?

By MySHadmin - Posted on 07 September 2010

Portions of Seminole Heights take the Fall and Winter holidays very seriously.  Huge Halloween and Christmas decorations (both religious and secular) spring up all over the neighborhood.   My own home gets a Halloween rennovation that takes a full weekend to assemble.  My Christmas decorations are a bit more tasteful and mundane, I'm afraid.  I spend the majority of my cash at Manny's nursery just across the river and bring home flats of poinsettias to fill my front garden.  But like most folks, I buy strings of lights, garlands, tree decoratons, and other bits of bling to make each year a little bit different.

Most of that bling came from Target.  After the US Supreme court said corporations can give their profits to candidates without much restriction, Target went off and gave a $150,000 to a business-friendly but famously anti-gay candidate.  That's politics.  My dollars will go elsewhere this year, which is the other side of those politics.  Cause and effect don't have to be a downer, though.  Here is an opportunity to find better places to make or acquire decorations.

As Labor Day weekend passes us by, the major and minor stores are stocking up on Holiday decorations.  Where is your favorite place to go?  Do you have a "secret source" for your decorating addiction?  Please share it with your neighbors.
