Frozen Lake Roberta

By MySHadmin - Posted on 10 January 2010

The Hampton Terrace Elves normally help Santa off the lake the weekend after New Years, but things have been too cold, even for elves. However, there are folks living adjacent to the lake that may prefer to have Santa back in his home rather than floating around in the middle of January.  So the elves decided to brave the freezing temperatures and reel him in.

Imagine their surprise when they arrived at Lake Roberta to find it surrounded by a thick sheet of ice. Thick enough, in fact, to support the weight of a fist-sized stone skipped across the surface. Frozen into the ice were the spadderdock lilies, still green.

Elf Nicole brought her kayak to escort Santa to shore. It crunched through the ice, breaking it up like thick panes of glass. She paddled out to Santa in the open water, lifted his anchors, and helped him back to the waiting band of elves with their power drills and gloved hands.

Santa thanks his elves, Nicole, Tim, Chad, and Troy, for helping him to shore.

Happy New Year, everyone.  Stay Warm!
